More About This Episode

During this episode you will learn what wasabi is, about the 4 parts of the wasabi plant – #1 Leaves (Greens), #2 Stalks (or Stems), #3 the Rhizome (what some people mistakenly call “wasabi root”), and #4 Roots.

You learn about growing wasabi in your back yard, about the “Myth of Wasabi Seeds”, and about some of the many culinary uses for wasabi.

During this episode Steven shares the disheartening experience he had when he discovered that most US sushi restaurants flat out lie to you, and deceive you when they sell you “wasabi” to go with your sushi.

Sadly the vast majority of sushi restaurants will lead you to believe that they are serving you wasabi when in fact they serving you horseradish with green dye.

By the way – here in Portland both Bamboo Sushi and Zilla Sushi and Sake offer REAL Wasabi and the NOT the fake wasabi served in so many US sushi restaurants.
